Common Skin Disease
85% of all teens and adults suffer from acne at some point in their life. It is by far the most common and highly treatable skin disease that differs in types of treatment according to severity.
Benign lesions that may easily bleed but are fairly treatable are called Seborrheic keratosis. They may be frighteningly similar in appearance to the dreaded skin cancer, but it is highly treatable by the trained medical professional. While they look like warts, they only grow on the top most layer of the skin unlike real warts, and often itch as it grows.
Rashes of all classifications are called dermatitis, the most common of which is eczema. While they are found in both children and adults alike, they are sometimes outgrown by children when entering adolescence and may be under complete control during adulthood.
Herpes infections caused by the herpes simplex virus can afflict the individual for life. It can only be brought under control through various medications, though the person will never fully eradicate the virus from the body.
Hives are another common skin allergy. While they are usually short lived, chronic hives outbreaks should be referred to a doctor to investigate the underlying cause of the hives to keep it under control.
