Skin Allergy Itching

Rashes or skin inflammations are the most common side effects of skin allergies. Itching would seem to offer immediate relief, but in most cases it only leads to further complications. Itching itself scratches the skin and would leave the skin susceptible to other foreign substances. Instead of itching, take a cool shower to soothe the skin. Apply lotions with topical anesthetics that would offer relief of the itch. Rubbing specific itchy spots with ice would likewise be just as effective. Stay in cool places, avoid being under the sun or in places where you would tend to sweat. Wear loose clothing, avoiding tight fitting cloths and garters which would limit air circulation around your body.

Pruritus is the itchy sensation felt by most people. It is usually localized to a certain area but may also be felt all over the body, with or without the presence if a visible rash. Causes of the itch may be easily identifiable depending on the area of the body where the itch occurs. Example, itchy scalp may be a result of dandruff or Seborrheic dermatitis. The skin condition may be treated through topical and oral antihistamines.
