Skin Cancer Moles

The most common type of skin cancer is Basal Cell Carcinoma. It usually appears on UV light damaged skin and may penetrate from the top layer of the skin into the bone. But it rarely spreads to other vital body organs and treatment may be localized on the specific area.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma is the second most common type of cancer. It is slightly more fatal than the Basal Cell Carcinoma, because it has the tendency to metastasize or spread to other organs through out the body. It has a reddish appearance unlike other moles which are brown in color, and may appear and grow rapidly than a normal mole. If left untreated, it could grow to a large lesion and will metastasize to the nearest lymph nodes and spread elsewhere.

Melanoma is the least common but also the most lethal type of skin cancer. There has been an increase in the number of cases with melanoma compared to previous decades, mainly believed to be a consequence of the increasing popularity of sun tanning.
