Skin Disorders in Children

A variety of factors may allow a child to become susceptible to bacterial skin infections. Diabetes, HIV induced immune system failure and sun damaged skin all contribute to bacterial skin disorders in children. Fungal skin infections are also equally common among children. A fungal infection of the foot may also be exhibited on the fingers or hands due to the contagious nature of fungal infections.

Viral infections in children often build up the immune system so the child develops reasonable immunity to the same disease. Measles, mumps and rubella have largely been eradicated thanks to the advancement of immunizations.

Parasitic skin infections like lice and scabies remain to be common among school aged children due to their close proximity to infected individuals. Also these infections remain a nuisance, they are highly treatable and there is absolutely no reason to doubt that infection would have to take a longer time than necessary to treat.
