Skin infections
The skin is the most exposed body organ because of its relatively large surface area. It provides sufficient protection against foreign bodies, but open wounds compromise the skin’s protective integrity and introduces bacteria, fungi and viral infection into the deeper layers of the dermis. Over all health and hygiene may prevent the onset and spread of skin infections.
Most skin infections are curable through administration of antibiotics. Recurrence is possible even after cure, so be sure to follow doctor’s advice and follow-up instructions to prevent recurrence of infection.
