Treating Skin Boils
Boils often progress to large pus and will only heal after the abscess is drained of any infection material. Boils usually have a two week life term, any boil that persists longer than the expected time frame should be checked by a doctor. Application of hot compress at various points of the day would hasten it to burst and drain. Small abscesses without a head or are still firm should not be squeezed or be attempted to burst. This would only spread the infection internally to other parts of the body. Abscesses which are deeper or larger may have to be surgically drained by a doctor.
Particular hygiene will be needed to prevent the recurrence and spread of the infection. Frequent hand washing and sterilization of beddings and towels will be important. Never share clothes and other linens with other people. Antibacterial soaps will be helpful in maintaining hygiene around the infected area, but antibiotics and other medications will be required to completely eliminate bacterial infection.
